๐ง UV Spectrophotometer Lamp Replacement Guide
๐งช Applicable for: Deuterium Lamp & Tungsten-Halogen Lamp
โ ๏ธ Caution: Handle with care. Lamps are sensitive and may contain hazardous materials like mercury.
๐ When to Replace
- Lamp hours exceed rated lifetime:
- Deuterium: ~1000โ2000 hours
- Tungsten: ~2000โ3000 hours
- Baseline drift increases
- Low light intensity or instability in absorbance
- Lamp ignition failure or delayed ignition
๐ ๏ธ Tools Required
- Anti-static gloves
- Screwdriver
- Clean, lint-free cloth
- Alcohol wipe (for cleaning housing)
- New lamp (with compatible model)
๐ Replacement Procedure (Generic)
โ Step 1: Switch Off & Cool Down
- Turn off the instrument and unplug the power cord
- Allow at least 30 minutes for lamp to cool
โ Step 2: Access the Lamp Compartment
- Locate and open the lamp housing (usually on the rear or side panel)
- Unscrew the cover carefully
โ Step 3: Remove Old Lamp
- Use gloves
- Gently unplug/disconnect the old lamp
- Avoid touching the glass part โ if touched, clean with alcohol

โ Step 4: Install New Lamp
- Align pins or connectors correctly
- Secure it using screws or clamps
- Do not overtighten
โ Step 5: Clean Surroundings
- Remove dust from lamp area using air blower or cloth
- Clean connectors with alcohol if needed
โ Step 6: Close & Reconnect
- Reattach housing cover
- Plug the instrument back in
- Power on and run lamp calibration or intensity test
